To make user management even easier in TalentCards you can create custom attributes that offer additional details about each of your users. Each custom attribute you create will appear as a new column in your Users table.

To create a new custom attribute:

  1. Sign in to your TalentCards account and expand the left side menu (1).

  2. Click on Custom attributes (2).

  3. Click Add custom attribute (3).

  4. There are four types of custom attributes you can choose from:

  • Text field: This attribute allows you to type in specific information about a user. For example, you might create a text attribute called Notes.

  • Dropdown: This attribute allows you to create predefined options that you’ll choose to apply to each user. For example, you might create a dropdown attribute called Department.

  • Checkbox: Use this attribute for simple YES/NO options. For example, you might create a checkbox attribute called Remote to specify if a user works on-site, or remotely.

  • Date & Time: Use this attribute for data pertaining to dates and times. For example, you might create a date and time attribute called Date of Birth.

Follow these steps to create each type of attribute:

Text field attribute

  1. Give your attribute a Name (up to 30 characters) (1).

  2. Give it a Default value (2) that will be automatically filled in for each user when they are created (optional).

  3. Choose whether or not your attribute is Required (3) to be filled out for each user, if it will be Visible on reports (4), and if you’d like it to be Visible on mobile (5). Then click Next (6).

  4. If you’d like the attribute to exist in all groups, switch on Make attribute global (7). Otherwise, select the specific Group(s) (8) that you’d like the attribute to belong to and click Next (9).

Your text attribute now appears as a new column (10) in the Users table belonging to the group(s) you specified.

Dropdown attribute

  1. Give your attribute a Name (up to 30 characters) (1).

  2. Add entries to your drop-down list by typing each one and pressing Enter (2).

  3. Select which entry will be your Default value (3) that will be automatically applied to each user when they’re created (optional).

  4. Choose whether or not your attribute will be Visible on reports (4), and if you’d like it to be Visible on mobile (5). Then click Next (6).

  5. If you’d like the attribute to exist in all groups, switch on Make attribute global (7). Otherwise, select the specific Group(s) (8) that you’d like the attribute to belong to and click Next (9).

Your dropdown attribute (10) now appears in the Users table belonging to the group(s) you specified.

Checkbox attribute

  1. Give your attribute a Name (up to 30 characters) (1).

  2. Set its Default state to either Checked or Unchecked (2).

  3. Choose whether or not your attribute will be Visible on reports (4), and if you’d like it to be Visible on mobile (5). Then click Next (6).

  4. If you’d like the attribute to exist in all groups, switch on Make attribute global (7). Otherwise, select the specific Group(s) (8) that you’d like the attribute to belong to and click Next (9).

Your checkbox attribute (10) now appears as a new column in the Users table belonging to the group(s) you specified.

Date & Time attribute

  1. Give your attribute a Name (up to 30 characters) (1).

  2. Choose a date-time format from the drop-down list (2).

  3. Choose whether or not your attribute is Required (3) to be filled out for each user, if it will be Visible on reports (4), and if you’d like it to be Visible on mobile (5). Then click Next (6).

  4. If you’d like the attribute to exist in all groups, switch on Make attribute global (7). Otherwise, select the specific Group(s) (8) that you’d like the attribute to belong to and click Next (9).

Your date and time attribute (10) now appears in the Users table belonging to the group(s) you specified.

Note: When you make a custom attribute visible on mobile, your users will be able to view and edit their corresponding information from the TalentCards app.

You can make changes to your existing attributes at any time by navigating to the Custom attributes page from the left side menu.
