How to activate card set sequence rules

This article explains how to enable and configure sequence rules for a specific sequence in TalentCards. With sequence rules, admins can manage assignment, gamification, and publishing settings at the sequence level, rather than on individual sets.

If you want to group Card Sets together but not require learners to complete them in a specific, sequential order, use Card Set Folders instead.

What happens when you apply sequence rules

When Apply sequence rules are enabled, the assignment, gamification, and publication settings will apply to every set within the sequence. Individual card sets in the sequence will no longer allow editing of their own assignment rules.

To customize them again, you must either:

• Disable sequence rules entirely

• Remove the set from the sequence

Note: If a Card Set is added to a sequence with sequence rules active, the sequence rules override the individual Card Set rules.

If the Card Set is later removed from that sequence, the original Card Set rules become available again.

To activate the card set’s sequence

1. Sign in to your TalentCards account as an Administrator.

2. Go to Card Sets (1), hover over the card set Sequence you want to modify, and click on Edit sequence (2).

3. Click on Edit details (3).
   ​

   

4. In the Sequence basics (4) section, activate the Apply sequence rules (5) toggle.
   ​

   

5. Click on Save Changes (6) when done.

Note: The "apply sequence rules" toggle exists to prevent conflicts when combining sets that already have individual assignment settings. It ensures consistent behavior and prevents assignment mistakes.
